Registration of Indian Nationals with Embassy of India, Yangon

 

All Indian nationals planning to live in Myanmar(excepting short term tourists) are advised to register themselves with the Embassy of India, Yangon. Registration with the Embassy will facilitate any measures that need to be taken in a situation of emergency or if such a need arises. It will also facilitate information availability about various events through our emailing network.

Procedure for registration is given below:

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. andhard copy to the Consular Wing, Embassy of India or deposit the same between 0930 and 1100 hrs on any working day along with following documents :-

(a) Two colour passport size photographs of each member of family;
(b) One copy each of the Passport's first page , last page and current visa page;
(c) Passport of each individual.(for verification)

2. No fee will be charged for registration. An certificate of registration will be issued to the applicant within one month. Submission of papers may either be done in person or through authorized representatives who will be required to produce authority letter and proof of identity. 

TOURIST VISA-ON-ARRIVAL (TVOA) SCHEME

TOURIST VISA-ON-ARRIVAL (TVOA) SCHEME FOR MYANMAR NATIONALS WHO WISH TO VISIT INDIA FOR TOURISM

Tourist Visa-On-Arrival(TVOA) scheme has been extended to Myanmar nationals by the Government of India with effect from January 28, 2011. The scheme is valid for all Myanmar nationals planning to visit India for tourism for a short period of up-to a maximum of 30 days.

A Single-Entry tourist Visa-on-Arrival will be granted by Immigration Officers at the International airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata. The visa fees for the Arrival Visa will be US$ 60 per person. Visa-on-Arrival will be granted for a maximum of two times in a single calendar year. There should be a minimum gap of two months between two visits.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Q1. Can non-Myanmar nationals be issued visas other then Tourist Visas?.

Ans. Non-Myanmar nationals can be issued all types of visas provided they have been resident in Myanmar for a continuous period of more than two years. In all other cases, they will be issued visas only for tourist purpose. Such applicant will have to approach Indian Missions in their respective country of origin for issue of other types of visas.

Q.2 Is there any special category of visas for Buddhist Pilgrimage?.

Ans. No, Buddhist pilgrims are granted Tourist Visas.

Q.3 Whether proof of submission of research thesis is acceptable for issue of a Research visa?.

Ans. Proof of submission of research thesis is not enough. The applicant has to provide document confirming the approval of research project of the individual by the Research Council of the concerned University.

Q.4 Will Student Visas be issued in case applicants want to study in private educational institutions in India?.

Ans. Students applying to study in any Educational Institution recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) or the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be granted student Visas. These could be either government or private educational institutions.

Q.5 What is the duration of a business visa and what are the documents required for establishing business credentials in Myanmar?.

Ans. There is no fixed validity for Business Visas. The validity will depend on the specific need of the applicant. Form 26Q issued by the Department of Company Registration under the Myanmar Ministry of National Planning or any other document which establishes that the applicant is running a registered business in Myanmar would be considered sufficient for this purpose.

General Information

1. In case of non-Myanmar passport holders, visas will be issued with in 72 (Seventy Two) hrs of submission of application subject to clearance from Indian Embassy in country of origin of applicant. An additional sum of US $ 25 will be charged as Telex/Fax fees in all such cases.The applicants( with valid Myanmar Visa) are required to mention clearly  in the visa application form  the intended the port of entry and exit.

2. Visa fees and Telex\\Fax charges once paid are non refundable.
 
3. Myanmar Diplomatic and Official passport holders are exempted from visa requirements if their period of stay/visit in India does not exceed more then 90 days after date of entry into India.

4. Applicants who have been granted Student/Resaerch/Medical/Employment visas have to comply with registration formalities at the nearest Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) with in 14 days of their arrival in India. 5. Applicants who have been granted long term visas (i.e more than 180 days), also have to register with the nearest FRRO office, if their stay in India is likely to exceed more than 180 days.
Failure to register will attract a penal fee of US $ 30
(As per the RBI’s Notification No.16, dated May 3 ,2000,the payments can be made in Rupees by Foreign nationals during their visits to India).

6. As per the latest guidelines issued by the Department of Telecommunications (DOT), Government of India, illegal use of Thuraya Satellite Phone is not permitted in India. Unauthorized use violates section 4 of Indian Telegraphic Act 1885 and the violator can be penalized and the device would be detained/confiscated as per the existing procedures till the time the holder of the device is able to produce a license issued by the DOT.
